The play is the star in this case, so you can't go wrong here. Imelda Staunton gives her all, although it's hard to resist comparing her performance unfavorably with Elizabeth Taylor in the film. Conleth Hill is rather more successful with his unique portrayal of George, miles away from Richard Burton's interpretation but equally as effective. The ending of the piece is still one of the most poignant and effective in modern drama.
