Renad, a young Gazan girl, sets out on a perilous journey armed only with her grandmother’s stories and her own fierce imagination. She searches for her family, and for the ‘Anqaa,’ the mythical Palestinian Phoenix said to rise from devastation.
A Grain of Sand is an intimate one-woman show that views war through a child’s eyes, blending Palestinian folklore with real testimonies from children in Gaza. Renad’s story shines with resilience, hope, and the enduring right of every child to simply be a child.
Following the shows on Thursday 22 & 29 January at 7.30pm and Saturday 24 & 31 at 3pm, there will be a 30 minute Q&A with performer Sarah Agha and writer/director Elias Mattar.
