Aidan Turner (Poldark, The Hobbit) comes to the West End for the first time in The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Oscar winner Martin McDonagh’s dark comedy playing at the Noel Coward Theatre 23 June- 8 September 2018.

Mad Padraic (Poldark’s Aidan Turner) is a terrorist. A terrorist the IRA rejected for being too violent. While off on a bit of routine business, torturing a Belfast drug dealer, Mad Padraic gets a call that changes everything.

Mad Padraic rushes back home after receiving a call from his father that his beloved cat, and only friend, Wee Thomas is doing poorly. What Padraic doesn’t know is just how poorly Wee Thomas is. Wee Thomas’s brains have been squeezed out. When Mad Padraic finds out will it push him over the edge? Will justice be meted out? Will Padraic ever be able to open his heart again?

MGC Artistic Director Michael Grandage will direct this rare West End revival of Martin McDonagh's critically acclaimed The Lieutenant of Inishmore. The production follows Michael Grandage’s award-winning production of McDonagh's The Cripple of Inishmaan in 2013.
