San Francisco Ballet UK premiere of Liang / Marston / Pita!

For the first time in the UK, San Francisco Ballet is bringing a stunning new triple bill to the stage of Sadler’s Wells. Comprised of works from Liang, Marston and Pita come to be entranced by the works presented in Programme B. With only 3 performances scheduled, San Francisco Ballet Programme B tickets are expected to go quickly.

The first work presented in this triple bill is The Infinite Ocean. Here Taiwanese-born American choreographer Edwaard Liang delves into loss and letting go. Next is Cathy Marston’s Snowblind an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s haunting tale of adultery, Ethan Frome. Last, but certainly not least comes Björk Ballet. The fantastically surreal choreographer Arthur Pita takes inspiration from the music of Icelandic icon, Björk Guðmundsdóttir to create this magical ballet.

Who are the San Francisco Ballet?

San Francisco Ballet have a long reputation of pushing boundaries in dance and making history.  After their foundation in 1933, they staged the first full-length American productions of Coppélia and Swan Lake. In 1944 they started an American Christmas tradition by producing the first full-length production of Nutcracker in the United States.

As Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer Helgi Tomasson heads San Francisco Ballet. SF Ballet are accompanied by their own orchestra and operate one of the most respected ballet schools in the country. They are currently known for commissioning groundbreaking dance from top choreographers, discovering new choreographic talent, and staging modern classics alongside the works that comprise ballet’s traditional canon.
