San Francisco Ballet UK premiere of new triple bill!

San Francisco Ballet are back in London with the UK premiere of a new triple bill. Part of a collection of 4 triple bills being presented Programme D only has 2 performances. Tickets for San Francisco Ballet’s Programme D, and indeed all its programmes, are expected to be in very high demand so book early to secure your seat now!

The first work of the evening comes from choreographer Trey McIntyre. With a title lifted from Walt Whitman, Your Flesh Shall Be a Great Poem inhabits the unconventional world of his grandfather. This is followed by Bound To. A collaboration between Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist Christopher Wheeldon and composer Keaton Henson this piece strives to take on the modern world. The evening is concluded with Anima Animus which is set to Ezio Bosso’s Esoconcerto. This piece is David Dawson’s first work for the company and stretches ballet technique to its absolute limit.

Who are the San Francisco Ballet?

San Francisco Ballet have long pushed the boundaries of dance and made history.  After their creation in 1933, the company was responsible for staging the first full-length American productions of Coppélia and Swan Lake. In 1944 they found themselves unwittingly starting and an American holiday tradition when they produced the first full-length production of Nutcracker in the United States.

San Francisco Ballet is headed by Helgi Tomasson, their Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer. They are accompanied by their own orchestra and the company operates one of the most respected ballet schools in the country. They are currently known for their work commissioning groundbreaking dance from top choreographers, discovering new choreographic talent, and staging modern classics as well the works that make up the canon of classic ballet.
