Featuring some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history, including “People” and “Don’t Rain On My Parade”, this musical classic tells the fascinating and bitter-sweet story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star, and her tempestuous relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein.

This bold new production, with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Bob Merrill, a book by Isobel Lennart from an original story by Miss Lennart, with revisions by Harvey Fierstein, is directed by Michael Mayer (Hedwig and the Angry Inch & Spring Awakening on Broadway), and promises to be the must-see musical of 2016.

Funny Girl is originally a 1964 Musical, from the book by Isobel Lennart. The book was semi-autobiographical and both the Musical and the book portrait the life of Fanny Brice, a Musical star from the Lower East Side of New York and her doomed relationship Nick Arnstein.

It is the first revival of Jule Styne and Bob Merrill classic, Jule Styne's score features the classic songs "People", "You Are Woman, I Am Man" and "Don't Rain on My Parade".

Since opening on Broadway in 1964, the show has become synonymous with the original star Barbra Streisand who reprised the lead role in the successful film version, for which she shared the Oscar Award for Best Actress.

We are delighted to welcome Sheridan Smith back to Funny Girl.  It is currently planned that Sheridan will play Monday to Saturday this week (excluding the Wednesday matinee and Thursday evening performances at which Natasha J Barnes will perform). From the week commencing 18 July, Sheridan is scheduled to perform Tuesday through Saturday, with Natasha playing Fanny Brice on Monday evenings. This schedule is subject to change.

Thoroughly enjoyed Funny Girl, so lucky to see Sheridan Smith, she is absolutely amazing so talented, as was Darius Campbell who's come a long way since his Pop Idol days! Shame it's finishing in a couple of weeks.

A classy & stylish show. Sheridan Smith was amazing. However there was a long lull in the second half before the story picked up again.
