Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Musical tells the story of Charlie Bucket, a kind-hearted boy living in poverty with his family, who unexpectedly wins one of five golden tickets to visit the world-famous Wonka Chocolate Factory.
Inside, Charlie and the other winners encounter a series of extraordinary rooms filled with sweet wonders — and surprising consequences. From chocolate rivers to nut-collecting squirrels and the famously curious Oompa-Loompas, the factory is a place where imagination and morality collide. As the journey unfolds, each visitor is tested in unexpected ways, while Charlie’s humility and kindness set him apart. It’s a story about wonder, temptation, and the rewards of staying true to yourself.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory London ran at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 2013 to 2017, becoming one of the most visually ambitious family musicals of its era. Its blend of practical effects, imaginative design and faithful storytelling helped it build a strong following with audiences of all ages.
