On Bear Ridge the play
“One minute we had customers, the next minute there was no-one.”
Bear Ridge Store still stands in a little lost village that has become blurry around the edges as borders have been redrawn. A town easily hidden by a splash on a map, but where you could find things. For a hundred years there were family shops, a butchers and grocers, a place where you could find odds and ends, a place where you could find things you shouldn't if you knew who to ask and the last petrol pump for thirty miles and now it's all gone quiet.
John Daniel and Noni own the Bear Ridge Store and they are not leaving. They remain, defiant, drinking what's left of the whiskey and reminiscing about the good old days when everyone was on the same side and the old language shone.
But out in the darkness, there is a figure coming towards them.
