An Ideal Husband tickets are only available for a short time. Don't miss your last chance to see this classic as a part of Dominic Dromgoole's season of Oscar Wilde at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Oscar Wilde’s An Ideal Husband, the cream of the crop when it comes to British comedies, follows the intrigue and scandal of public life straight into the drawing room.  Sir Robert Chiltern’s seems confident of his smooth political ascension but when confronted with dubious past dealings everything is called into jeopardy.

Jonathan Church (Singing in the Rain, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui) directs real-life father and son duo Edward and Freddie Fox (of The Audience, The Day of the Jackal and The Judas Kiss, Cucumber & Banana respectively) who will star alongside Olivier nominated Frances Barber (Silk, Antony and Cleopatra), Nathaniel Parker (This House, Wolf Hall), Sally Bretton (Not Going Out, King Lear), and Susan Hampshire (Forsyte Saga, Monarch of the Glen).

Former artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre Dominic Dromgoole’s new theatre company, Classic Spring, is presenting a yearlong season of Oscar Wilde plays, centring on his Victorian plays. The season includes A Woman of No Importance, Lady Windermere’s Fan,  De Profundis, The Selfish Giant, and The Importance of Being Earnest.

Patrick McGarey15th July

Your London production of An Ideal Husband is a fine tribute to Oscar Wilde. He would be thoroughly pleased. Our great regret is we were not in town for the other plays you are staging at the Vaudeville Theater. Bravo to you and your outstanding cast!

Joyce Ogden15th July

Terrific acting by terrific actors/actresses.

D.R.T. Jones14th July

Entertaining play with a superb cast who seemed to be enjoying it. The plot centred on political corruption and so seemed very relevant today. ….

Samuel George14th July

Very good performance from Freddie Fox. Accooustics in the theatre can be improved. The seats were dreadful - too low and very very uncomfortable. Hope you can modernise the seating to current standards.

Helen Brough14th July

Amazing show! Witty, thought provoking and heart warming

Linda Rovira14th July

Very enjoyable show. Very good performances. Comfortable atmosphere

Bill14th July

Very entertaining. Plenty of Wilde witticisms, twists and turns in the plot, surprisingly modern reflections. A very pleasant evening’s entertainment.

Elizabeth Nott13th July

This show was so well acted with some well known faces in the cast, however in my opinion Freddy Fox stole the show. The seats in the grand circle of the Vaudeville theatre are very compact and we suffered a bit from “dead leg”. Not enough toilets sadly. Booking was easy online. Overall though a most enjoyable night at the theatre.

Janna Pratt13th July

Violinist on stage added a certain class, great idea. Susan Hampshire was brilliant as was the whole cast. Another thoroughly enjoyable Oscar Wilde evening.

Rosemary Penketh13th July

We really enjoyed the show. The production was very true to Oscar Wilde The cast were fantastic especially Freddie Fox, Susan Hampshire and Faith Omole.

Denis H12th July

A brilliant cast in a smashing theatre from a genius writer, what more could one want ?

Superb. Brilliantly cast, beautifully acted. Wonderful to see The Foxes - father and son - on stage together. Impeccable in every way.
