What is Until The Flood about?
In 2014 in Missouri, USA, Darren Wilson, a white police officer, shot and killed Michael Brown, a black teenager. This shooting ignited social uproar, and driven by the activist movement Black Lives Matter, a controversial investigation was initiated by the US Department of Justice. Following the ripples the shooting caused across the world, Dael Orlandersmith interviewed those who were shaken up by the horrific event. These real-life interviews are what inspired Orlandersmith and the eight characters that she created, through who she explores the heart and soul of modern-day America.
This revelatory drama explores the powerful forces of American history, race and politics. Inspired by genuine conversations, Orlandersmith embodies a community who are reeling from the shooting and explores how they struggle to come to terms with the effects of the event. The characters, like the community, are hungry for change and rally for justice.

A monologue was excellent, I felt the actress engrossed each character she depicted and pull me in also. Amazing amazing and once again amazing!
Kate Bowsher26th September
A profound, moving play, how she portrayed all of the characters with little more than a chair and one prop per character let alone remember all,of the dialogue is unbelievable. First rate,

A well-acted production, but not the most enthralling of plays. Provocative on a troubling subject.

Beautifully performed and written. Every character was believable, and captivating - yet it was only 1 actress. Lovely theatre also.
