About Gruffalo

Gruffalo returns at the Lyric Theatre

The monster family show, The Gruffalo, returns to the West End to the Lyric Theatre

Tall Stories' hit musical is an adaptation of the award winning picture book, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Voted the nation's number one bedtime story by BBC Radio 2 listeners, The Gruffalo has been performed to well over a million people worldwide and has even hit the small screens in a star-studded TV animation.

Meet a wheeler-dealer Fox, an eccentric old Owl and a maraca-shaking, party mad Snake! Mouse can scare these hungry animals away with tall stories of the terrifying Gruffalo, but what happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he imagined...?

‘The cast of three uses an expressive physicality and minimal props to bring the story to wonderful life… The gently witty songs keep the action bouncing along… This is an irresistibly charming tale told with refreshing simplicity’ The Times

‘Tall Stories have transformed a well-loved story into an exuberant, funny show’ Time Out

The Gruffalo is the ideal introduction to theatre for pre and primary school children and their families; with plenty of songs, laughs and fun for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups.

Brilliant show for kids, great interaction very entertaining and funny

Went to see it with my 4 yrs old son. We both absolutely loved it!

This was, to put it mildly, a low budget production! The costumes looked like they had raided the local charity shops. There was not enough audience participation - they were most successful when they did engage. Hardly any special effects. We were in the dress circle - and they don't provide booster seats! How they expect young children to see using adults seats is a mystery - and the seats are not cheap. Hot day but no ice cream on sale - altogether a big disappointment - my 4 year was so bored he asked to leave before the end, which I was happily pleased to do!

Brilliant! Loved the energy on stage, songs and characters! We were all singing along!
