About Gruffalo

Gruffalo returns at the Lyric Theatre

The monster family show, The Gruffalo, returns to the West End to the Lyric Theatre

Tall Stories' hit musical is an adaptation of the award winning picture book, The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

Voted the nation's number one bedtime story by BBC Radio 2 listeners, The Gruffalo has been performed to well over a million people worldwide and has even hit the small screens in a star-studded TV animation.

Meet a wheeler-dealer Fox, an eccentric old Owl and a maraca-shaking, party mad Snake! Mouse can scare these hungry animals away with tall stories of the terrifying Gruffalo, but what happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he imagined...?

‘The cast of three uses an expressive physicality and minimal props to bring the story to wonderful life… The gently witty songs keep the action bouncing along… This is an irresistibly charming tale told with refreshing simplicity’ The Times

‘Tall Stories have transformed a well-loved story into an exuberant, funny show’ Time Out

The Gruffalo is the ideal introduction to theatre for pre and primary school children and their families; with plenty of songs, laughs and fun for children aged 3+ and their grown-ups.

A great experience for all. The actors were very expressive, especially the 'mouse'. Look forward to seeing other productions by the group.

Great show, not too long, familiar enough with the story but with lots of new unexpected surprises

Great show for younger children very professional cast who engage audience best if they know the story!

I purchased front row seats thinking they would be the best seats however they were far too close was advised at the time of booking that booster seats were available but rudely told by staff on the day at the theatre that they do not do booster seats! The play was ok! Grufallo looked nothing like the grufallo from the story book! I was bored and my little one was yawning which says a lot! Not much interaction with the audience and the humour was more for adults then kids! Overall was a waste of my money! Wouldn't recommend at all

Really good, first time to the theatre for my Son who is nearly 4. Great interaction with the audience. Room on the Broom would be a good one too.
