In London for a limited Christmas season Elf! at the Dominion Theatre is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Elf! is based on the beloved 2003 New Line Cinema hit starring Will Ferrell and features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone). The production also features direction and choreography by Morgan Young (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), set design and costumes by Olivier Award winner Tim Goodchild, lighting design by Olivier Award winner Tim Lutkin, with sound design by Clem Rawling.
Elf! stars the winner of ITV’s Superstar Ben Forster as Buddy the Elf and Girls Aloud‘s Kimberley Walsh as Jovie. The cast also features Joe McGann as Walter Hobbs and Jessica Martin as Emily Hobbs.

It was good but not great. I didn't want to compare it with the film but couldn't help feeling it was a little flat and forced by comparison.

Truly magical. A. Wry clever stage adaptation of the story we all know and love, but some modern twists that weren't really needed.

Despite some poor reviews we really enjoyed the show. The costumes and sets were great with a spectacular scene at the end! We went with our 12 year old son and 21 year old daughter and they both loved it! The only negative would be that on occasion the orchestra was louder than the singing which made it difficult to appreciate the songs.
