Christ, we are excited for Jesus Christ Superstar, just from looking at these incredible shots from the rehearsal room. Here’s your first look at Sam Ryder as Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar, coming to the London Palladium from 20 June until 5 September 2026, before its recently announced transfer to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 16 October 2026.
The much anticipated return of the award-winning Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre production of Jesus Christ Superstar brings a stellar star-studded cast, with alternate King Herods performing alongside the Eurovision star, Sam Ryder. Included in the King Herod rotation is Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family), Boy George, Layton Williams (Bad Education), Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) and Julian Clary (comedian, winner of Celebrity Big Brother, 2012).
The show follows the final days of Jesus’ life, reimagining the story through the eyes of Judas (portrayed by Tyrone Huntley), torn between his doubt in the man who is said to be God’s son and his loyalty as one of the followers of Jesus. The story is told through an iconic rock opera score, created by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Tickets are selling fast for the theatre event everyone is talking about. Be the first to see Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Palladium this summer, or book ahead for the Theatre Royal Drury Lane run. Yes, before you ask the superstar Sam Ryder will be Jesus Christ for both runs.
