    Bill Ward to take over the role of Loco Chanelle in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie

    Bill Ward, Emmerdale and ex-Coronation Street star, is set to replace Bianca Del Rio in the role of Loco Chanelle in the West End’s smash-hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.     What is Bill Ward known for?

    English actor Bill Ward is famously known as a British soap opera star! He is most recognizable for his role as Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street and more recently as James Barton in Emmerdale. Ward was killed off in both roles but is happy to not return to the soaps as he enjoys a variety in his career. Ward has most recently been seen on stages all around the UK having starred in the Legally Blonde tour. He has an impressive career on both the small screen and the stage, having played roles in the biggest British TV series (Silent Witness, Midsomer Murders, EastEnders) and in the most prestigious UK theatres (Piccadilly Theatre, Noel Coward Theatre, Palace Theatre).

    What role will Bill Ward be playing in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie?

    Bill Ward will be taking on the huge role of Loco Chanelle/Hugo. He will be stepping into the stilettos of Bianca Del Rio, Shane Ritchie and Phil Nichol. The role is an iconic drag queen, iconic in her stories at least and to the young Jamie, who helps a sixteen-year-old boy find his feet and a dress too. Loco Chanelle/Hugo act as a mentor to Jamie who is struggling with the prejudice he faces at school.

    Jamie New is sixteen and terrified of what the future holds. Despite the bullies at school, students and faculty alike, he overcomes those who try to put him down, with the help of his mum, friends and local drag queens, Loco being one of them. Jamie is encouraged to step out of the darkness and into the spotlight he was always destined for.

    What Jamie cast members will Bill Ward be joining?

    The current cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie took over their roles from the original West End cast in January 2019. Ward will join the fabulous Layton Williams who plays Jamie, Faye Tozer, Sejal Keshwala, Rebecca McKinnis, Luke Baker and everyone else who shines every night at the West End’s Apollo Theatre.
