Back to the Future The Musical will bid farewell to the West End as it gears up for its first UK tour, which is set to open in Bristol in October 2026. The London production will conclude its run on 12 April 2026, having played an impressive 1913 performances and collecting major accolades, such as the WhatsOnStage and Olivier Awards for Best New Musical. Its global footprint continues to grow, with productions across North America, Australia, Japan and on Royal Caribbean Cruises, plus a German staging on the horizon. More than four million people worldwide have experienced the show so far.

Who is Ben Joyce? Ben Joyce is one of the West End’s most exciting rising talents. The Welsh actor graduated from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and made an extraordinary professional debut in 2021, starring as Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys at the Trafalgar Theatre. His powerhouse vocals and charismatic stage presence immediately marked him as a performer to watch. Where have you seen him before? After dazzling audiences in Jersey Boys, Ben went on to star as Marty McFly in Back to the Future: The Musical at the Adelphi Theatre in 2022 — a role that cemented his reputation as one of musical theatre’s most dynamic young leads. He was part of the show’s second-year cast, where he met his now-girlfriend, fellow performer Amber Davies, who has since gone on to appear in The Great Gatsby and now on Strictly Come Dancing.

Back to the Future The Musical has revealed its special guest for this year’s Back to the Future Day celebration - the annual event marking 21 October, the date Marty McFly famously travels to 2015 in Back to the Future Part II.  Each year, the West End production marks the occasion with a surprise cameo as Hill Valley High’s ever-strict, and aptly named, Principal Strickland. And this year, television presenter and stylist Gok Wan will take on the role (we wonder what he’ll make of the principals spotty bowtie and ill-fitting suit?). Playing the part for one night only on the 20th October, Wan follows in the footsteps of comedian, and fellow television presenter, Leigh Francis, who took on the role for last year’s celebrations.

Amber Davies is one of the UK’s most exciting stage and screen talents, currently dazzling audiences in the 23rd series of Strictly Come Dancing (BBC One, Saturdays at 6.20pm and Sundays at 7.15pm). But while many viewers know her as a glitterball hopeful, Amber has also built an incredible career in musical theatre, taking on leading roles in some of the West End and UK’s biggest shows. Who is Amber Davies? Amber Davies first shot to fame in 2017, but she has since carved out a reputation as a powerhouse performer on stage. Known for her strong vocals, natural charisma, and relatable charm, Amber has become a favourite with audiences across the country. Now, thanks to Strictly Come Dancing 2025, she’s showcasing a whole new side of her talents. Where have you seen her before? Amber made her West End debut back in 2019, stepping into the role of Judy in 9 to 5 the Musical. From there, her career has only gathered momentum. She went on to lead the UK tour of Bring It On the Musical as Campbell, before lighting up the West End as Lorraine Baines in Back to the Future: The Musical (2022–2023)—a role that not only cemented her place as a rising star but also introduced her to her boyfriend, actor Ben Joyce, who was starring opposite her as her son Marty McFly. The only kind of incest we can get behind. Her versatility was further proven when she took on the iconic part of Vivian Ward in the UK tour of Pretty Woman the Musical (2023–2024), winning praise for her charismatic take on the beloved character. Most recently, she has been at the centre of the UK premiere of The Great Gatsby Musical at the London Coliseum (April–September 2025), where her standout solo “New Money” didn’t just stop the show - it became the most streamed theatre song of the summer.

Great Scott! Back to the Future The Musical welcomes two new faces to Hill Valley today at London’s Adelphi Theatre, as Maddie Grace Jepson and Brian Conley join the cast. From tonight, Jepson – the actor, writer and TikTok sensation known for her sharp comedy and viral sketches – makes her West End debut as Lorraine Baines. Conley, one of the UK’s most beloved stage and screen performers, takes on the role of Doctor Emmett Brown for a strictly limited 12-week run, concluding on 3 November. Cory English, who currently plays Doc Brown, will return to the role from 5 November. Buckle up - Brian Conley is set to play Doctor Emmett Brown in Back to the Future: The Musical, landing at London’s Adelphi Theatre for a strictly limited 12-week run from 13 August to 3 November 2025. “Great Scott! It’s a gift of a part in such an iconic musical,” Conley says. “It’s pure, high-voltage fun, and I can’t wait to bring my own spark to the mad genius!” Conley is no stranger to the West End, with standout roles in 9 to 5, Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Jolson - the latter earning him an Olivier Award nomination. Beyond the stage, his television career spans decades, with credits including EastEnders, The Grimleys, and his own hit series, The Brian Conley Show. He also holds the record for the most performances at the Royal Variety Show - fittingly, just down the road from the Adelphi at the iconic London Palladium. He takes over from Cory English, who returns to the role of Doc Brown from 5 November.

His relentlessness to explore and innovate leads him to try out the latest inventions and push the boundaries of science.    George McFly  George is portrayed as shy, nerdy and lacking in confidence, George’s life is characterised by a series of setbacks and missed opportunities, largely due to his inability to stand up to bullies like Biff Tannen. This lack of assertiveness not only impacts his career, leaving him stuck in a mediocre job, but also strains his relationship with his wife, Lorraine However, the turning point in George's life occurs when his son, Marty McFly, travels back in time to the 1950s.

He’s trying hard to be himself and he wants to perform at his high school talent show. After a few rocking guitar licks, Principal Strickland doesn’t think it’s a good idea. What he doesn’t know - but you’ll realise when you hear Got No Future - is that 'Got No Future' bears an uncanny resemblance to 'The Power of Love', later performed by Marty McFly and the Pinheads.  Wherever We're Going Marty’s a typical teenager. He’s head-over-heels for his high school friend, Jennifer Parker. In 'Wherever We’re Going', these loved-up teens promise to be by each other’s side… Unfortunately for Marty, it’s not for long. Hello – Is Anybody Home? When you meet Marty’s dad, you’ll get an immediate insight into the McFly’s family dynamics. George McFly is often taunted by Biff Tannen; he’s bigger, stronger, and has George wound around his little finger. Marty wants George to be a confident man, instead of shying away. So by asking if anybody is home, Marty wonders if anyone will actually do anything beyond their town. It Works Welcome Doc Brown! In this part of the show, Doc and Marty meet in 1985 and the time-travelling plans are revealed. The flux capacitor works, the plutonium is there, and the DeLorean is kitted out. Now, all that’s left to do is select a date and drive there. And because Back to the Future is now a musical, cue the bevvy of dancing women to accompany Doc Brown. It works!  Cake Audiences - and Marty McFly - crash into 1950s Hill Valley in style. Although Marty’s travelled 30 years back in time to 21st October 1955, he recognises a fair bit around him. During the song, the Hill Valley residents view him as a newcomer. But he’s not a stranger. They’re the strangers to him!  Gotta Start Somewhere As Marty steps inside the Hill Valley diner, he meets a younger Mayor Goldie Wilson. But in 1955, Goldie isn’t a mayor, he’s a busboy. Goldie and Marty chat about their hopes, leading Goldie to burst into a gospel-fused number about achieving everything you set your mind to. My Myopia It’s not just the Hill Valley residents that Marty’s meeting for the first time (again). It’s his parents. Yes, Marty McFly goes back in time to a world where he wasn’t born but must watch how his parents fell in love. Weird!  In 'My Myopia', Marty's father, George, sings about his feelings for Lorraine, and how he wishes they could be together.  Pretty Baby We know all about George’s feelings for Lorraine. And in 'Pretty Baby', Marty hears the reciprocated feelings from his mother-to-be, in his mother’s childhood bedroom. Add a new nickname (Calvin Klein, based on his underwear) to the mix, and the result is pretty surreal.  Future Boy A short while after time-travelling, Marty’s slowly getting used to his surroundings. But he’d like to return to the real world, and fast. When Marty heads over to Doc Brown, Marty confides with the scientist that he’s scared he’ll never live a normal life. 'Future Boy' is all about reshaping your past and future, and how they’ll generate 1.21 gigawatts of energy. Something About That Boy Lorraine can’t believe her luck. She had a boy in her bedroom and he was attractive! It’s a pity then for Lorraine that this boy is a younger Marty McFly, a kid that’d turn out to be her son. At the same time, school bully Biff Tannen shares his feelings for Marty and George. 'Something About That Boy' is really about all the boys, depending on who you’re rooting for.

The dream continues, fellow dreamers!
