Kevin Elyot’s Coming Clean play comes back to Trafalgar Studios
From the writer of the landmark play entitled My Night With Reg comes this compelling, funny, and thought-provoking play that has already took the West End by storm once. Coming Clean The Play follows Tony and Greg, who have been together for over 5 years. While their relationship is far from typical, they seem to have their love all figured out. They’re in a committed relationship and they love each other dearly, but there has always been room in their relationship for other people to pass through -- as long as that’s all they’re doing. Their only rule is they don’t sleep with the same man more than once or fall in love with their conquests. But when the undeniably attractive Robert becomes a fixture in their lives, it will test their relationship and their love as everything they thought they knew about each other is thrown into jeopardy. Coming Clean is a fresh, sharp and funny look at love, relationships and fidelity.
Who was Kevin Elyot?
Kevin Elyot was a renowned British playwright, screenwriter and actor. His best-known works include landmark drama My Night With Reg and the film Clapham Junction. He began his career as an actor and Coming Clean (originally entitled Cosy) was his first endeavour at playwrighting and the show marks the first time he shone a light on gay relationships, a topic which he would return to in the Olivier and Evening Standard Theatre Award-winning My Night With Reg. He would go on to be nominated for each of those awards for his play Mouth to Mouth. His award-winning play Coming Clean premiered at Off-West End venue The Bush Theatre in London to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Elyot passed away in 2014 shortly after finishing his play Twilight Song, which received a posthumous premiere at the Park Theatre.
