Tosca London Tickets

Experience Tosca, Giacomo Puccini’s gripping opera of passion, power and betrayal. In Oliver Mears’s acclaimed production, soprano Aleksandra Kurzak returns to the title role, joined by Saimir Pirgu as Cavaradossi and Christopher Maltman as Scarpia. Conducted by Daniel Oren, this thrilling production brings one of opera’s most powerful tragedies to life.

What Is Tosca About?

Set in a politically turbulent Rome, Tosca follows celebrated singer Floria Tosca and her lover, the artist Mario Cavaradossi. When Cavaradossi helps an escaped political prisoner, he attracts the attention of Baron Scarpia, the ruthless Chief of Police.

Determined to possess Tosca, Scarpia uses his power to manipulate and torment the couple. With Cavaradossi facing execution, Tosca is forced into an impossible situation, making a desperate bargain with the man she despises to save the man she loves.

As passion gives way to violence and deception, Tosca must find a way to outwit Scarpia before it is too late. Directed by Oliver Mears, this acclaimed production relocates Puccini’s operatic thriller to a contemporary, war-torn Rome, intensifying its themes of corruption, obsession and survival.

Featuring some of opera’s most celebrated music, including Tosca’s moving aria ‘Vissi d’arte’ and Cavaradossi’s poignant ‘E lucevan le stelle’, this is a powerful story of love and sacrifice.
